Where to stay in Loboc? Bohol is one of the islands that most often appears in the different Philippines travel itineraries. Not for nothing, it offers a huge variety of activities that will leave endless memorable moments on your adventure. Epic dives, extraordinary snorkel spots, mind-blowing waterfalls, caves or cenotes are just a small sample of how much awaits you on this island.
Years ago, due to its fame and the large number of accommodations available, Panglao used to be the main base for many travelers visiting Bohol but, now, more and more people are choosing to look for a place to stay in Loboc and explore the island from a much more central location.
In this article we’re going to talk about the most recommended hotels to stay in Loboc, so it’s much easier for you to find the one that best fits your needs and you only have to worry about enjoying your Bohol visit. Let’s get started!
Why stay in Loboc?
In our Where to stay in Bohol guide we talk about each of the possible areas to stay on the island. So, if you’ve reached this article it’s surely because you already have in mind some of the advantages that staying in Loboc offers you.
As we’ve said, most travelers base themselves on the small island of Panglao, others do so in Loboc and a still small number in Anda, as its opening to tourism is much more recent.
We won’t lie to you, we’ve spent most nights in Bohol in Panglao given our diving addiction, but once we tried staying in Loboc, we instantly fell in love with the convenience it offers to explore the island’s vast central area as well as the different accommodations we’ve had the chance to get to know there.
Staying in Loboc means, among many other things, being much closer to some of the must-see highlights to visit in Bohol. The Chocolate Hills, the tarsiers, the impressive zipline of more than 500 meters long and 100 high, the Man-Made Forest, the Loboc River navigable by cruise or kayak, countless waterfalls… All of that and much more is on the list of things to do in Loboc!
To help you get your bearings, Loboc is roughly an hour from Tagbilaran or Alona and about 2.5 hours from Anda.

So, why do so many people stay in Panglao? For several reasons. On the one hand, that’s where you’ll find the main dive centers and from where you can go visit marvels teeming with turtles like Balicasag or Pamilacan. On the other, with so much on offer, those looking for a place with more nightlife usually go for Panglao. Careful, keep in mind that what some consider “more vibe” to others tastes a bit like “crowds”.
If on your checklist for visiting Bohol convenience and proximity to its main treasures come first, bet on staying in Loboc. If, on the other hand, you prefer having the beaches a stone’s throw away and you’re willing to ride a motorbike for a couple of hours to get to Loboc on a day trip and back, you might be more interested in Where to stay in Panglao. If you want places with almost zero tourism, Anda should be your choice, although in Loboc you’ll also have that slightly “explorer” feeling.
Either way, it’s not all black and white. Can’t decide? Then do a combo of 2 days in Panglao (or Anda) + 2/3 days staying in Loboc and enjoy the best of each area.

Loboc River Resort, the top pick for where to stay in Loboc
Loboc RIver Resort is one of the top places to stay in Loboc. Despite its appearance, which could fit perfectly with a 5‑star hotel, its prices don’t skyrocket as much as what they actually offer. Super well-kept rooms with modern, beautiful décor that doesn’t skimp on details will give you the rest you need after a day of adventures around Loboc. Private balcony, flat-screen TV, minibar, air conditioning and even a living room and kitchen in their suites if you really want to feel at home—from around $55 per night.
Being right by the river you can enjoy its spectacular views while you relax, eat at its varied restaurant or take a dip in one of its two pools. Note, if you stay in the Premier Collection rooms, you’ll have another more private pool and an exclusive bar at your disposal. It’s certainly one of the best resorts in Bohol.
Like many of the places to stay in Loboc, this one offers the option to book tours (the firefly watching is inexpensive and runs in 2 slots each day) and to rent motorbikes right at reception. They also have a restaurant (Venia’s Kitchen) with river views that has great prices and a variety of options for intolerances, vegans and vegetarians).
Honestly, for us it’s a whole experience every time we stay here and it hugely improves our visit to Loboc because you feel “more in the jungle”.
Here are their prices and availability

Fox and the Firefly Cottages, the coolest option
This is perhaps the most famous place to stay in Loboc. Its beautiful décor acts like a magnet for those looking for a different place where they can feel in full harmony with nature. Overlooking lovely rice fields, the rooms have that Balinese style in their décor that also turns them into bait for those seeking Instagrammable hotels. Super comfy beds, incredible views and—oh yes!—epic open‑air showers in their bungalows. A real treat.

Its lovely décor goes beyond the rooms and will make you feel like you’re in the movie Avatar when you walk through its garden at night. The restaurant prepares true delights with different vegan options and from reception you can book river tours (the river is right in front of the hotel) or rent motorbikes.
Two things to note that some might consider cons: the wifi doesn’t reach the bungalows in the rice‑field area and, although there are fans that we consider more than enough, none of the rooms has air conditioning.

Do you dive? During our stay at Fox and the Firefly we discovered they also organize diving trips from Panglao. You’ll have to get up early, but you’ll be able to tick this must‑do off your island list.
In this article we tell you about our experience there: Staying in Loboc at Fox and the Firefly Cottages.
Michelina Princess, good price and in town
If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay in Loboc, without many pretensions but where you’ll feel comfortable, take a look at Michelina Princess. We arrived there by chance and both its prices and the friendliness of its owner made us stay several nights. This accommodation, even though it is not right by the river like the rest in this where‑to‑stay‑in‑Loboc guide, has the advantage that, being in the center of Loboc town, you have nearby places that can be useful. Shops like 7‑ELEVEN, a sari‑sari, several carinderias…
The rooms are the typical simple ones you’ll find in the Philippines with the usual basics: comfy bed, a brightly colored wall, strong air conditioning, a small table and a mirror. There are rooms facing a street that isn’t noisy at all and others overlooking a beautiful rice field whose great potential the owner hasn’t yet tapped. Prices from $17.
Good news and bad news? The good: the wifi works really well for the Philippines. The bad: there’s no hot water for now.

Stefanie Grace Paradise Inn, cheap stays in Loboc with a pool
A low‑cost option to stay in Loboc to keep in mind. The strong points of Stefanie Grace Paradise Inn are its price; its friendly owner; its pool, ideal for swimming by the river; its proximity to the river from where the cruise or kayak tours depart; a tasty and varied restaurant, breakfast included and the possibility of renting a motorbike from there.
Keep in mind that this accommodation has very varied rooms from $18 per night. From family rooms with air conditioning to small huts that are a bit run‑down. If you like the area and what it offers, we recommend that you don’t wait to book. When we arrived they only had a small “hole” left next to the pool and we ended up leaving. Some friends who slept in the Standard Double, however, told us that they loved their stay here (even if the décor might not be its strong point).

Water to Forest Ecolodge, immersion in nature
We’ve shown you some accommodations that offer a bit of luxury in an idyllic setting like the Loboc River, but are you perhaps looking for something different? Take note because Water to Forest Ecolodge doesn’t have an average score of 9 for nothing among the places to stay in Loboc.
This hotel offers total immersion in nature. Just a few meters from the river and surrounded by vegetation everywhere you look, here you’ll find nipa huts without walls where bamboo and curtains are the only things separating you from the jungle. Obviously, all rooms come with large mosquito nets to protect you from possible bugs. Are you ready for that incredible feeling at night when different sounds start to emerge from nature? It’ll be unforgettable!
In addition to the sought‑after private huts (book quickly if you’re interested), they have shared rooms where you’ll have the privacy you need thanks to dividing curtains. For this reason, it’s also one of the best hostels in Bohol.
They have a delicious and varied restaurant and, like most places to stay in Loboc, they’ll help you get your rental motorbike and your activities.
Two things to keep in mind: there’s no hot water and, compared to others, it’s a little farther from the main road if you plan to walk.

Nuts Huts, a haven of peace by the river
We continue with another simple and cheap accommodation where you can stay in Loboc immersed in nature. Nuts Huts is also located right on the riverfront, but with the difference that in this area there is literally nothing but the hotel. You can wake up, have breakfast and take a dip in the river in total privacy, since it’s an area where hardly anyone goes.
Plus, thanks to the kayaks they rent, you can easily reach the nearby and beautiful waterfall that sits right below the huge zipline at the Loboc Ecotourism Adventure Park.
The rooms are really very basic, with a fan, little terrace and bamboo bed. And, depending on the price range you want, you can also have a private bathroom.
An ideal place to stay in Loboc and disconnect in the middle of nature. That said, this disconnection also means you won’t have access to wifi or hot water. To make the experience more adventurous, you’ll have to ride a 15‑minute unpaved road by motorbike from town to get there and then go down 280 steps to the rooms. They also offer the option of picking you up in Loboc town and taking you along the river, without having to make that huge climb.
If despite all this many people rate it a 10, it must be for a reason! Do you dare?

Southside Tourist Inn, ideal base to go exploring
Another budget accommodation to consider if you’re simply looking for a place to leave your things, head out to explore the area and rest at night. Its rooms are the typical basic ones you’ll find in many places in the Philippines with a private bathroom with hot water, a standard bed and a small chair on the terrace to sit and relax. Although it has air conditioning, it isn’t one of those modern ones, so be patient when cooling the room.
Of all those mentioned on this list, this is the one closest to the main road, saving you some time on the motorbike and giving you the chance to have restaurants closer by, but it doesn’t have direct access to the river.
