Where is Siquijor Island?
Getting to Siquijor is easy since it is located in the heart of the Central Visayas. Just 60 kilometers south of Panglao, the most common way is to reach the island by ferry from Dumaguete, Cebu or Bohol. Depending on where you start your trip, you will arrive at one of its two ports: Siquijor town and Larena.
In addition, quite close by, on Negros Island, is Dumaguete Airport, which receives flights from Manila and Cebu. Siquijor has a small airstrip that is planned to be expanded to receive commercial flights, since for now only charter flights land.

How to get from Cebu to Siquijor
As these are two different islands, you can go from Cebu to Siquijor by both sea and air. We explain the details below.
How to get from Cebu to Siquijor by boat
The most common and simplest way to go from Cebu to Siquijor is by taking the ferry from Pier 1 in Cebu Port. There are several companies that offer this route, but OceanJet is the most popular and has daily departures that you can book online.
The ferry to get to Siquijor from Cebu is not direct, as it first heads to Tagbilaran Port in Bohol and makes a stop there of just under half an hour. It has two frequencies from Cebu, one at 5:10 in the morning, which arrives at Siquijor Port (not Larena) at around 9:00, and another at 13:00, which arrives in Bohol at 15:00 and departs again at 15:20 to reach Siquijor Port at around 16:15. The entire trip takes about 4 hours.

There are 3 classes on these boats: Open-Air, Tourist Class and VIP. Although the seats are less comfortable, we like going in the Open-air category, that is, outdoors. This way we avoid freezing from the air conditioning. We leave a photo below so you can see the difference between them, from lower to higher.
Recently, the operator SuperCat has started operating a daily ferry from Cebu to Larena (farther from the accommodation area on the island) at 12:30. This one also stops in Tagbilaran (Bohol) and then continues to Siquijor, arriving around 17:00. The ticket price is the same as OceanJet’s. You can also book here.
On the other hand, the company Lite Shipping operates boats to go from Cebu to Siquijor. They take 10 hours to reach Larena Port in Siquijor, so in reality the seats are bunks. They depart on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 13:00 and arrive around 23:00. The price is around 800 pesos and can be booked online.
Finally, Starlite Ferries offers ferries on Fridays and Sundays to get to Siquijor from Cebu. They depart at 21:00 and arrive at Larena Port at around 5:00 the next day. You have reclining seats from 650 pesos and then bunks for about 800–900 pesos.

How to get from Cebu to Siquijor by bus
There is also the option to reach Siquijor from Cebu by bus. It’s not that the bus goes over the sea, but rather it runs a route through Cebu and then boards a boat to get to Dumaguete. Upon arriving in Dumaguete, you will have to take one of the boats we talk about later, in how to go from Dumaguete to Siquijor.
This journey will take you about 6–7 hours, depending on the traffic when leaving Cebu, which is usually not little. The route is as follows:
- Take a white taxi to Cebu’s South Bus Terminal. If you are at the airport, it should cost you about 250–300 pesos.
- Take a Ceres Liner bus (the yellow ones) to Dumaguete. It costs about 330 pesos (plus about 170 for the boat) and takes 6–7 hours. The bus goes to Bato and there it boards the boat. They depart roughly from 6:00 to 23:00 almost every hour, with less frequency from 18:00 to 23:00.
- Take a tricycle from the Ceres Bus Terminal in Dumaguete to the port. It costs 8 pesos per person.
- Take one of the boats from Dumaguete to Siquijor. They operate from 5:00 to 18:00 and there is more than one each hour. They usually take between 90 and 120 minutes. Prices range between 200 and 300 pesos.
If you don’t find buses to Dumaguete, you can take any bus that goes to Liloan (Santander). They usually take about 4 or 5 hours and cost between 160 and 200 pesos (depending on whether they have air conditioning or not). Once there, take the boat to Sibulan. It takes about 25 minutes and costs around 130 pesos pesos. In Sibulan, take the jeepney to Dumaguete (12 pesos).
Since 2022 there has been a new alternative to reach Siquijor from Cebu by bus. The company Sugbo Urvan Transit departs from the South Bus Terminal on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 20:00 and goes to Larena or San Juan port (511 pesos). The bus boards a RORO boat at Liloan Port, which costs 295 pesos per person. The journey seems to take about 12–13 hours to San Juan. In the opposite direction, from María in Siquijor to Cebu, it departs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 13:00 and on Sundays at 15:00.
Honestly, this is an option we advise only if you want to save a bit because it really takes longer and is more uncomfortable.
How to get from Cebu to Siquijor by plane
Although there are more and more rumors about the opening of a better airport in Siquijor, for now there is only an airstrip for small planes; the only way to get to Siquijor on a commercial flight is via Dumaguete. This is the capital of Negros Oriental.
Take a flight from Cebu to Dumaguete and, once there, hop on one of the boats from Dumaguete to Siquijor. Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines offer several frequencies a day and, if you book in advance, the ticket can cost around $35. In just 45 minutes you will be in Dumaguete and then the boat transfer lasts 1–2 hours, depending on the type of vessel. Below you have more information about the sea transfer to Siquijor. How to get from Bohol to Siquijor
Going from Bohol to Siquijor is extremely easy, as there are daily direct ferries linking both islands. To do this you must head to Tagbilaran Port, in the southwest of the island. From there, OceanJet boats depart every day at 7:30, 14:40 and 15:20 to reach Siquijor. The journey takes approximately one hour and 30 minutes and they drop you off at Siquijor Port (Poblacion).
Book ferry from Bohol to Siquijor
Ferries by SuperCat have also recently begun to operate. Each day at 15:00 it sails from Tagbilaran to arrive in Larena a couple of hours later. The ticket price is the same as OceanJet’s, but keep in mind that Larena is farther than Siquijor Town (Poblacion) from the hotel area (quite a bit). You can book from this link.
There is another company that offers ferries from Tagbilaran (Bohol) to Larena (Siquijor). It’s called Apekoptravel and it also takes a couple of hours to arrive. It departs every day at 10:00 (in the opposite direction, from Siquijor to Bohol, at 13:00). Even so, we encourage you to reconfirm timetables because they change them all the time. Still, if the schedule works for you, go ahead! The ticket is also a little cheaper. You can book here.
Careful because in 2025 (and roughly since August of last year) Apekoptravel has been having a lot of problems with its boats. Don’t trust this company too much because they also cancel boats if they don’t fill them.
Another alternative is to go with the Lite Ferries boats that depart at 20:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and arrive at Larena Port at 23:00. Prices are around 500–650 pesos and you can comfortably book your ticket here.

How to get from the ports of Siquijor to your accommodation
OK, you have already arrived in Siquijor, but how do you get to your hotel? Depending on the port you arrive at, you can choose one transport or another. In Where to stay in Siquijor we talk about how our favorite area — and most travelers’ — is San Juan/Solangon, so we are going to summarize how to go from the ports to this corner:
a) From Larena Port
When you leave the ferry, the first thing you will see on the right-hand side is a bunch of rental motorbikes. If you don’t carry much luggage and later plan to return to Cebu or Bohol from this same port, it’s an option that can work for you. They usually cost between 300 and 350 pesos. Remember to check the condition of the motorbike carefully because some travelers have told us that they later had to come to claim and it is not exactly close.
Afterwards you will find a lot of parked tricycles. It is not usually the cheapest option, as they try to ask for quite high prices. An acceptable price for the whole vehicle for this route, about 40 minutes, is 400 pesos.
What we did last time was go for the multicabs (those small jeepneys that you see on the right of the photo). We shared with other travelers and paid 200 pesos per person to San Juan. If there are more of you, you can negotiate it even cheaper.

b) From Siquijor Port
This port is much closer to the San Juan area, so it is much faster and cheaper to reach your hotel. You will also find rental motorbikes easily. But if you are not in a hurry or want to rent it at your own accommodation, simply walk to the tricycles stop that go to San Juan (near the market). The price is set on a small sign that each tricycle carries, but it is usually 15 pesos per person (it depends on the distance, it’s per kilometer).
If you want a tricycle for yourself or your travel companions or you carry a lot of luggage, a normal price to this area of Siquijor is 50 pesos per person. If it is a “special trip”, that is, the trip just for you, they charge 300 pesos.
There are also jeepneys and occasional buses, but they depart much less frequently, so we do not advise it.
