How to get from Bohol to Coron? Both are among the most common stops on Philippines travel itineraries, but keep in mind they are quite far apart from each other. Bohol, for its part, is in the Central Visayas area, while Coron is in the north of Palawan province.
So you don’t go crazy checking transport options, we’ve created a detailed guide on how to get from Bohol to Coron and vice versa. Still, be aware that there’s no direct or fast way to connect both places and you’ll likely need to dedicate a full day to this journey. As we explain in Transport in the Philippines, you’ll need to be patient. There are no boats from Bohol to Coron.
If you’ve landed here but are actually looking for how to reach these destinations from elsewhere, we recommend taking a look at How to get to Bohol and CHow to get to Coron.
How to get from Bohol to Coron via Cebu
The most affordable and straightforward way to get from Bohol to Coron is via Cebu. Cebu City is a large city with connections to almost all the islands in the region and with both a domestic and an international airport with flights to Coron. Therefore, you’ll always find a way to make this trip.
Here we’ll walk you through it step by step. If you need to overnight in Cebu because you want to catch an early flight to Coron the next morning, don’t miss our article Where to stay in Cebu. There you’ll find recommendations for places near the airport such as this one and this one.
Step 1: Transport from wherever you are in Bohol to Tagbilaran Port
Depending on the area of Bohol you’re in, it will take you more or less time to reach Tagbilaran, the island’s capital, and start your journey to get from Bohol to Coron. We can summarize it as follows:
- From Panglao: from higher to lower price and speed, you can take a taxi (500 pesos), a transfer, a tricycle (300 pesos), a jeepney + tricycle (50 pesos) or a bus to DAO Terminal (70 pesos) + a tricycle (20 pesos). Note that the private-transport ride will take between 30 and 45 minutes, whereas the last two options can easily exceed 90 minutes.
- From Loboc: take a bus to DAO Terminal in Tagbilaran (50 pesos). The ride takes about 1 hour. Once there, you can take a tricycle for 20 pesos to the port. Another option is a tricycle or taxi driver, which will be much more comfortable. If you want, we can give you contacts if you leave us a comment below.
- From Anda: there are vans and buses to DAO Terminal. The trip takes about 3 hours and they usually charge 180–200 pesos. If you want to make this route more comfortable and faster in a car with a driver, we can give you a contact. They usually charge 3,500 pesos. Leave us a comment and we’ll pass along the information.
Step 2: Ferry from Tagbilaran to Cebu
Once at the port, you’ll need to take a ferry to Cebu. There are fast boats (fast boats) by Oceanjet and Supercat almost every hour from 6:00 to 18:40. This trip takes about 2 hours.
Later there are a few scattered ones, such as Lite Shipping’s daily departure at 23:59. This company takes between 4 and 5 hours.
The ticket costs between 800 and 1,000 pesos, depending on the company and seat type. To this amount you’ll need to add Tagbilaran port fees, which are 25 pesos. You can check schedules and book here:
Don’t forget to bring a light jacket because the air conditioning on these boats is usually at full blast.
Do you need to book this ferry? If you’re traveling in peak periods like Chinese New Year, Christmas or Holy Week, we strongly recommend it. Also if you plan to take the 17:40 one, which, being the last of the fast boats, tends to fill up.
If, for whatever reason, the ferry schedules from Tagbilaran to Cebu don’t work for you, another option is to look at boats from Tubigon. This is a port in the north of Cebu Island, 2 hours by bus from Tagbilaran City. We don’t usually talk much about it because there aren’t tourist spots nearby, but it can be relatively convenient if you’re visiting the Chocolate Hills. You can check schedules from there and book at this link.

Step 3: Taxi or bus from the pier to the airport
You’re now at Cebu’s port, specifically at Pier 1, so the next step in this trip to get from Bohol to Coron is to head to the airport. Tell them you’re taking a domestic flight so they take you to T1.
The first thing to consider is that, just like in Manila, traffic in the city tends to be a bit chaotic. To be on the safe side, assume this ride will easily take an hour. Rush hours are usually from 8:00 to 10:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00.
What are your options? Basically 3:
- Take a white taxi: taxis in Cebu City are usually reliable. Grab a cab and make sure they turn on the meter—they usually do, but it doesn’t hurt to check. The ride costs around 300 pesos.
- Book a Grab car: Southeast Asia’s Uber works great in Cebu. If you don’t want any hassle and have mobile data, you can request pick-up right at the port. Keep in mind it will be a little more expensive than a taxi, perhaps about 50 pesos more.
- Take a MyBus bus: it won’t be the fastest option, but it is the cheapest. This company has buses to the SM City Cebu mall about every hour until 15:00. The ticket costs 50 pesos. Once there, you’ll have to connect with another one that takes you to the airport (50 pesos). These run roughly from 7:00 to 00:00. You can check schedules on their Facebook page.
Step 4: Flight from Cebu to Coron
At the airport, all that’s left is to board one of the flights from Cebu to Coron (airport IATA code: USU). This route takes about 75 minutes.
Book your flight from Cebu to Coron here
The airlines operating them are Sunlight Air, Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific Air (or its subsidiary CebGo). The third is usually the cheapest, but this will depend on how far in advance you buy your tickets. If you’re not traveling in very high-demand dates (Holy Week, Christmas, Chinese New Year…) it’s rare to see them over €70. Buying 2 or 3 weeks ahead, you can even find them below €50. Keep in mind that you’ll need to add the cost of checked baggage to the ticket price.
You can learn more about these kinds of routes in Domestic flights in the Philippines.

Step 5: Transport from Coron Airport to your destination in Busuanga
You’ve arrived in Busuanga, but there are still a couple more steps in your journey to get from Bohol to Coron. The first is to pay Coron’s environmental fees, which are 200 pesos per person and must be paid in cash at a counter in the airport.
Most travelers stay in Coron Town (don’t miss Where to stay in Coron), so the easiest thing is to grab a seat in one of the vans right outside the airport. The price is fixed: 250 pesos per person and, if you want to use less cash, you can reserve it from this link. The trip won’t take more than 40 minutes and they’ll drop you at your hotel’s door.
If you’re thinking of basing yourself in the Concepción or Salvación area, to keep it cheaper you’ll need to go to Coron Town and then take a van there (allow another 50–60 minutes). The other option is to negotiate a direct drop-off in that area, but it will be more expensive.
How to get from Bohol to Coron via Manila
If the above doesn’t convince you for getting from Bohol to Coron and you want something a bit more practical, it will probably be a little more expensive, but it’s possible. In that case, what you need to do is look for flights from Bohol (the airport is in Panglao and the IATA code is TAG) to Coron (Busuanga, IATA code USU):
Since there are no direct flights, we’re 99% sure you’ll have to make a layover in Manila. We recommend that you don’t book separate tickets—that is, Bohol to Manila and Manila to Coron with different airlines—unless you’re going to overnight in the capital (check our article Where to stay near Manila airport). We say this because flight delays in the Philippines are common and the second airline won’t be responsible for missing the first flight.
If you want to book with different airlines on the same day, it’s advisable not to leave less than a 3-hour layover.
At Coron airport, after paying the environmental fees (200 pesos), you’ll need to take a van to your hotel in Coron Town. They cost 250 pesos per person and the ride takes about 40 minutes. You can get them on the spot or reserve from this link.

How to get from Coron to Bohol
If you want to know how to get from Coron to Bohol—the reverse trip—you basically need to invert what we said above. In short, you have two alternatives: search flights from Coron to Bohol with a layover in Manila or go via Cebu City, doing the final leg to Bohol by ferry. Here’s that second option broken down, which requires more steps:
- Go from your hotel to the airport. You can arrange it with your hotel’s reception so they organize it for you, or book it directly here. The price is 250 pesos per person.
- Take a flight from Coron to Cebu. They’re operated by Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, and Sunlight Air.
- Go from the airport to the port (Pier 1). You can use a taxi, Grab, or connect two MyBus buses. Allow about 30–45 minutes (sometimes up to an hour).
- Take a ferry from Cebu to Tagbilaran. there are departures almost every hour until 18:40. The crossing takes a little under a couple of hours. If you arrive later, there’s a 22:00 boat that takes 4 hours, or you can look at ferries to Tubigon, but in that case—if you check a map—you have a couple of hours overland to Tagbilaran and almost 3 to the Alona area (Panglao). The ferry can be booked here.
- Get to your hotel in Bohol. This will depend on where it is. If you’re heading to Alona Beach or its surroundings in Panglao, you can choose between tricycle (300–350 pesos), taxi (500 pesos), or connecting public transport. You’ll find all this explained in How to get to Panglao.
