Looking for hostels in Siargao? You’ve come to the best place! As backpacking in the Philippines travel experts, we also like sleeping in cool (but budget-friendly) places where you can share experiences with other travelers.
In this Filipino destination, you won’t be short of options. With the tourism boom of recent years, a multitude of hostels in Siargao for every type of traveler and budget have joined the brand-new resorts. For surfers, party‑goers, digital nomads, beachfront, with a pool… anything you can think of!
In this guide we’ll talk about the best hostels in Siargao and what you need to keep in mind when choosing them, since it’s not a small island and we don’t all like the same things, right?
The hostel in Siargao that best fits what you’re looking for
Here are a few variables to consider:
- Location: this is the most important thing. In Where to stay in Siargao you have it explained in great detail, but, in short, you should know that the island is quite large and that most accommodations, bars, and restaurants are concentrated between General Luna and Cloud 9. This is also where almost all the hostels in Siargao are. Our advice is to base yourself in this area. If you have more than 4 days and, especially, if you have a good level of surfing and want to dedicate a large part of your day to it, we’d recommend splitting your stay between the former area and Pacifico. The latter, although things have been changing recently, is a little‑developed but gorgeous area.
- Price: let’s not beat around the bush—Siargao isn’t a particularly cheap destination. With its fame, prices have been rising; even so, they’re far from European ones. In the cheapest hostels in Siargao you can sleep from 10€ per night. If you want more comfortable rooms, reckon around 13€.
- Facilities: although things are changing little by little, it’s not very common for hostels to have a kitchen. If you value this, don’t take it for granted—check whether they really have one. However, many offer breakfasts for little money. In recent years, lots of hostels in Siargao have appeared with bars where a proper party kicks off (it’s a perfect destination if you’re looking for a vibe). So if you’re into the party hostel scene, you’re sorted. If not, don’t worry, you’ll also have options.
Where to book your hostel in Siargao
It’s been quite a few years since Siargao stopped being that unknown destination and it’s now the star for both Filipino and international travelers. Business owners have stepped up and there’s more and more accommodation on offer, but, as everywhere, the best ones fill up fast—especially at times like Easter and Christmas. That’s also when prices go up.
On top of that, hostels in Siargao are quite spread out. That is, unlike places like Coron or El Nido, going door to door becomes a heavier task and doesn’t save you much money either (unless you want to stay for a long time). Therefore, we recommend comparing prices on the two most important websites for booking hostels: Hostelworld and Booking. You can also take a look at the Asian site Agoda, which, although it doesn’t list as many hostels, often has deals.
In these search engines you’ll also find reviews from other backpackers. This is essential for us if we plan to share a room, as any comment about locker theft puts us off. We don’t risk it for a couple of euros per night.
Finally, almost all accommodations now offer the possibility of free cancellations or changing dates. So if, like us, you like to travel a bit on your own but sleep in decent places, you always have the option of modifying your booking.

The best hostels in Siargao – SOUTH of the island
For their great value for money, services, location, and facilities, these are the best hostels in Siargao—specifically in the south of the island (General Luna and surroundings).
Hiraya Surf Hostel – Great for solo travelers
Looking for where to surf in the Philippines? You already know Siargao is the mecca of this sport, and this first place we recommend is ideal whether you’re a pro or taking your first steps. Hiraya Surf Hostel is located very close to Cloud 9, the most famous wave in the Philippines, in an area with tons of restaurants, shops, and bars. Even so, if you don’t want to go out much from this Siargao hostel, you won’t have much of a problem because it has everything.
Your eyes will inevitably go to the pool, where it’ll be hard not to meet other travelers, but the most interesting thing is its mix of traditional and modern. Its spacious dorms have good lighting, air conditioning and—heads up—private bathrooms so you don’t have to go out like a zombie at midnight. They also have sockets and a locker.
Other things we like about this place—and why we’ve included it among the best hostels in Siargao—are its common areas. In addition to the pool, there’s a large garden, a bar, and an area to just chill or join some of the activities they host. Among the latter are, of course, surf classes, but also livelier ones like beerpong. They also organize island tours and help you rent a scooter so you can get around on your own. If you add a friendly staff eager to help, it’s a safe bet in Siargao, especially if you’re traveling solo.

Sinag Hostel – Feel at home
An 8.9 is the average score other travelers give this Siargao hostel, so there’s little that can go wrong if you book a bed here. Almost everyone agrees on one thing: the atmosphere is the best part. You can relax reading a book, do yoga in the common room, or meet people by joining their trivia nights, live music, and communal dinners—it’s up to you. The staff go out of their way to make backpackers feel comfortable and organize activities, excursions, and scooter rentals.
The location is very similar to Hiraya Surf Hostel—close to Cloud 9 but away from the hustle. Plus, this Siargao hostel is great if you’re coming with friends, since, in addition to shared rooms (4 or 8 beds, with or without air‑con), you also have double or family rooms to get a bit of privacy without breaking the bank.
By the way, if you want to save a bit on food (though there are awesome places to eat in Siargao on the cheap), you’ll love that they have a shared kitchen. The internet, for the Philippines, works decently. In short: fantastic value for money, homely vibe, and good service. Book early because it’s usually full!

Sunlit Hostel – one of the highest‑rated hostels in Siargao
If you don’t want to go wrong, this Siargao hostel is for you. With a score on Booking of almost 9, this property offers the winning combination of socializing and rest, as it has great common areas that include a full kitchen to make breakfast or simple meals, but noise isn’t allowed after 23:00.
Via and CJ are lovely and will welcome you almost like at home. The vibe at the hostel is great, with traditional Filipino dinners (the so‑called boodle fights) on some days of the week, and the organization of excursions with other guests is very good. As for the location, it’s not in the thick of it, but you have several restaurants nearby, including Vedya right opposite, which is great. If you don’t ride a scooter, there are always tricycles around.
They have modern and comfortable air‑conditioned dorms starting at 13€ per night. Each bed has a curtain, light, and socket, so you’ll have total privacy. If you’re traveling as a couple or with a friend, they also have doubles at a very good price. They offer free cancellation, so book now and think it over later.

Rucksack Inn Siargao – The newest hostel in Siargao
If you’re looking for completely new facilities, welcome! This hostel chain, which has some locations in Malaysia and Singapore (and upcoming openings in Thailand, Vietnam, and Manila), opened in 2024 this great hostel just a few steps from Cloud 9, in a very convenient area with bars and restaurants.
You can choose between rooms for 4 (mixed or female), 6, and 10 people, but all of them have super comfortable bunk beds with a curtain, light, and individual socket, as well as lockers. The lower‑capacity ones have their own bathroom, while for the others you’ll have to use the shared bathroom, which isn’t a problem either, as there are lots of showers and WCs. If you’re traveling with friends, you can also book the entire rooms for 4 or 6 people. Prices start at 12€ per night.
Besides everything being spotless, the coolest thing about this place is that it has a very nice pool and common areas where you’ll be able to socialize with other travelers. In fact, as we know from our WhatsApp groups, many of the night pre‑drinks on the island happen here. Don’t miss it and book now!

Mad Monkey Siargao – The most social hostel in Siargao
If what you’re looking for is a backpacker atmosphere and a bit of buzz, don’t think twice and book this Siargao hostel now. It belongs to the Mad Monkey chain, which also has this type of accommodation in other places like Cebu, El Nido, or Panglao.
Like most of those mentioned, it’s located in the Catangnan area, relatively close to Cloud 9, where you have all kinds of businesses. Even so, you won’t lack anything inside the hostel, as they have a pool, restaurant, and a super lively bar every night with activities every day. It’s also ideal if you don’t want to complicate things with tours, as they’re organized daily from here.
You can choose a bed in the 6‑bed or 12‑bed dorm. All have air conditioning, lockers, individual light, charging area, and a fan. Plus, they’re divided individually to give more privacy. A bed in the shared room is around 11€.

Hostels in Siargao – NORTH of the island
As we mentioned above, if what you’re looking for is to get away a bit or you have 5 days or more in Siargao and want to get to know the island more deeply, we recommend splitting your stay between the south and the Pacifico/Burgos/Alegria/Tangbo Beach area. Pacifico is perhaps the most convenient because there are already more restaurants and bars, though still nothing like General Luna. It’s also one of the best‑known spots for surfing, so it’s also advisable if you’ve come to focus on being on the board and little else.
Kaha Island Stay
Located a bit in the middle of nowhere, this hostel on Tangbo Beach (one of the most beautiful beaches in Siargao and perfect for sunset) is the best alternative if you’re going to get around by scooter and want a radically different experience on the island. It’s made up of shared dorms and doubles that look like they came out of a design magazine—and if you don’t believe us, just take a look at the photos below. The dorms have only 6 beds, and you can choose between singles and doubles, all with curtains for greater privacy. All have air conditioning and lockers.
Although you won’t find a great variety of restaurants nearby, there are some, and Alegria Beach is less than 5 minutes away by scooter. If you feel like it, there’s a good kitchen to make something quick and affordable. It’s not a super social hostel, as its location could still be considered remote, but it’s a great place to switch off, with the beach a 1‑minute walk away.

LaFinca Hostel Siargao
Located in Pacifico, it’s the most convenient hostel in the north of the island if you want more restaurant options, access to surf breaks, a beautiful beach 1 minute away and, above all, a bit more going on in a part of the island that’s still very quiet. Its pretty and comfortable dorms sleep up to 8 people and each bed has a curtain, individual light, a couple of sockets, and a small shelf. They also have a private bathroom with a very cute outdoor shower.
The common areas are huge, with wonderful views. They also have a very handy kitchen to save a bit on meals, yoga mats, and a balance board to train your equilibrium. Joyce, the manager, is lovely and will help you make your stay ideal with tips about the area.
Note that the minimum stay is 2 nights, in case it doesn’t show up when you search. Simply select 2.

Other hostels in Siargao you should consider
If these 7 hostels in Siargao we’ve recommended don’t quite work for you, take a look at these others, which are also pretty good:
- Three Little Birds Hostel (Cloud 9): super close to Cloud 9 and several restaurants and party spots, it’s a pleasant alternative if you want to socialize. They have an air‑conditioned dorm and a fan dorm (depending on what you prefer/want to pay), but in both you get beds with a curtain and your own locker. The common area is super pleasant and has a small kitchen if you want to save. Still, the most important thing is the staff, who are lovely. By the way, they have Starlink internet. Book your bed from this link.
- Ozen Free Diving Hostel (Cloud 9): from just 10€ per night, this hostel is located in a quiet area of the island and is specialized in freediving, so it’s perfect if you want to practice this sport. Its 10‑bed dorm is very pleasant and has wide beds with curtains and lockers. Even so, the best part is the very pleasant common areas. You can book from here.
- Happiness Hostel Siargao: we’re talking about beds from 17€ per night, but it’s your option if you want a deluxe Siargao hostel, with all kinds of comforts and plenty of vibe to join excursions. It’s located on the main road, perfect for accessing everywhere. Have a look and book from this link.
