where-to-stay-siargao-Siargao is one of our favourite islands and also one of the best-known in the Philippines. Lots of people want to enjoy its charms and, in recent years, it has experienced a tourist “boom” that has meant hotels in Siargao have multiplied, though perhaps not at the same pace as demand. We’ve already told you all about the things to do in Siargao, but today we want to dive deeper into a topic that often worries those who plan to visit: where to stay in Siargao.
It’s true that many hotels and resorts in Siargao are popping up, but if you’re going in high season (including the months of July and August, as well as September and October, when the international surf championship is held), we recommend booking your accommodation as soon as possible. Seriously, Siargao is super in right now! The last time we were there, we changed accommodation 5 times in 3 weeks…
Where to stay in Siargao: TOP areas
Besides choosing a specific hotel, it’s important to learn about the island’s geography, its attractions and the kind of tourism you’ll encounter, since we’re not all the same and one option may suit you better than another.
Keep in mind that you can choose several areas to stay in Siargao. Most accommodation is concentrated in the southern part of the island, especially in the area from General Luna to Cloud 9/Catagnan. Here you’ll find both cheap hotels and some of the best resorts in the Philippines. We’ll talk about them below, but this is the area to stay if you feel like going out, finding a great food scene (just have a look at where to eat in Siargao to get an idea) and having easy access to Siargao’s most common excursions.
A quiet area to stay in Siargao where you’ll find lovely beachfront hotels is Malinao. This beach area is our favourite in the south of the island and you’ll reach the centre of General Luna in just 10 minutes by motorbike. Very similar is Santa Fe, north of Cloud 9, which thanks to the Catagnan bridge has become a relatively central yet relaxed spot. Personally, we’re in love with the beach in this area.
If you feel like getting away from the hustle and bustle, Pacífico is a good option for where to stay in Siargao. About 40 minutes by motorbike from General Luna, this area is seeing its accommodation options increase month after month. However, you should consider that it’s more isolated, the restaurant offer is limited and, although close to the Magpupungko rock pools and Alegría beach, you’ll need to go to General Luna to do some excursions. If you have time to spare in Siargao, you can split your stay in two: General Luna and Pacífico.
Finally, in Burgos and Alegría there are also interesting accommodation options in Siargao to complement your stay in General Luna or if you want to enjoy a more chill Siargao. As we tell you in beaches in Siargao, Alegría is possibly one of the best on the island. As with Pacífico, you could also consider spending a few days in Burgos or Alegría and others in General Luna or nearby.
It’s very important to bear in mind that public transport in Siargao isn’t very efficient. There are only a few jeepneys or multicabs connecting the island’s different towns. The best-connected stretch is from Dapa (the capital) to General Luna, where tricycles have a standard price per person of 30 pesos and there are buses every 30 minutes for 33 pesos, as we explain in How to get around Siargao. Therefore, unless you have more than 4 or 5 days to explore it, we don’t recommend splitting your stay between several areas, but rather focusing on one and then renting a motorbike, car or tricycle with driver to explore the island.
We’re going to tell you about hotels in Siargao located mainly in the south of the island, but we’ll also devote a section (below) to the north, in case you’re looking for something more alternative. In any case, at the end of the guide you’ll find a map where you can get an idea of each one’s location in relation to the island’s attractions.
We know a fair bit about where to stay in Siargao, as it’s one of the islands we’ve explored the most, and we don’t rule out buying a small plot in the future… We’re always mulling over where to do it, since we keep changing our minds the more we visit.

Best hostels in Siargao – TOP backpacker dorms
If you’re travelling solo and keen to meet people or you want to learn to surf in more of a surfcamp vibe, your best option for staying in Siargao is a hostel. There are more and more such places to stay in Siargao and the bar is slowly being raised. Here we recommend a few, but you’ll find a longer, more detailed selection in our article on Hostels in Siargao.
Riad Masaya
As its name suggests, this Siargao hotel emulates a Moroccan riad. White walls, carefully designed spaces and exquisite décor in this hotel near the Cloud 9 area. Although the location isn’t the best, it’s offset by the quality of the rooms and service. They have double rooms and very cute shared dorms (even with curtain dividers, as you can see in the photo) where the vibe is great.

Mad Monkey Hostel Siargao
This recently opened hostel is one of the very best places to stay in Siargao if you’re looking for a backpacker atmosphere and a bit of buzz. It belongs to the Mad Monkey chain, which also has this kind of hostel in places like Cebu, El Nido or Panglao.
It’s located in the Catangnan area, relatively close to Cloud 9, where a multitude of businesses are springing up, so you won’t have any trouble finding what you need outside, even though inside you already have everything. Among its facilities you can enjoy a pool, restaurant and a super lively bar every night, as activities are organised daily. It’s also very convenient if you don’t want to complicate your life with tours, since they’re arranged daily from here too.
You can choose a bed in a 6-bed or 12-bed dorm. All have air conditioning, lockers, individual light, charging area and fan. In addition, they’re individually partitioned to give more privacy. A bed in the shared room is around €12.
Don’t miss out on a bed at Mad Monkey Siargao

Sunlit Hostel
If we had to pick one of the three, we’d choose this hostel in Siargao. Super new, with pretty facilities, lockers and a great atmosphere. They have a nice, well-equipped kitchen in case you fancy making breakfast or some simple cooking. They offer shared dorms with air conditioning and cosy beds with a curtain, individual light and power outlet for about €14 a night. It’s located in a more central area of General Luna and you can get everywhere on foot, although it will be much better if you rent a motorbike.
If you’re travelling as a couple or with friends, you’ll be glad to know they also have private double rooms with shared bathroom for about €35, a more than decent price for the island.

More backpacker-style accommodation in Siargao like these:
- Three Little Birds Hostel: super close to Cloud 9 and several restaurants and nightlife spots, it’s a pleasant alternative if you want to socialise. They have dorms with or without air conditioning (depending on what you prefer/want to pay), but in both you get beds with a curtain and your own locker. The common area is really nice and has a small kitchen if you want to save. Even so, the most important thing of all is the staff, who are lovely. By the way, they have Starlink. Book your room from this link.
- Nine Clouds Homestyle Accommodation: if you want something closer, quieter and you’re travelling solo but need privacy, here you have double rooms from €9 a night. Take a look here.
Best budget hotels in Siargao
If you’re travelling as a couple or with friends and you’re looking for cheap hotels in Siargao because you don’t want to blow your budget on accommodation and you think you’ll spend most of your time out and about, the following will interest you. They’re in the €20–€30 price range for 2 people.
The Broken Board
This is one of the best budget hotels in Siargao. It’s a little house with several rooms with shared bathroom, not much in the way of décor, but super pleasant and clean. If you’re travelling with friends, there’s a separate house with two bedrooms with their sitting area and a small kitchen—really ideal. Prices start at €19 a night for a double room, so it’s hard to find something this decent at this cost on the island.
It’s in the Cloud 9 area but well connected with the rest of General Luna, and Ate Arlene, who runs The Broken Board, is truly lovely and will help you have a 10/10 stay.
Don’t miss out on your room at The Broken Board

Yayay Homestay
Located in the Malinao area, if you know you’ll be getting around by motorbike, this is, for us, one of the best hotels in Siargao today. It’s a set of “villas” (more like rooms) fully equipped with a private bathroom (there’s hot water), a small kitchen, a little terrace and air conditioning, so you’ll feel almost like at home.
On the grounds you’ll also find a garden area with little tables, in case you want to meet other guests. Plus, Malinao beach (gorgeous) is just a 2‑minute walk away. Considering they come out at 30€ a night for 2 people, we think it’s an ideal place to stay in Siargao.

Balay Hayahay Clohaki Hostel
Leia, Nelson and their children will make sure your stay on the island is unforgettable. If you value the personal touch more, aren’t looking to pay crazy prices, want a quiet place yet at the same time well located, book now at Balay Hayahay Clohaki Hostel and we’re sure you’ll leave delighted.
We’re talking about a set of very pleasant little huts on one of the main roads in General Luna, so within a 10–15 minute walking radius you have all the bars and restaurants, as well as the beach. If you can’t be bothered, you can always use a tricycle.
As for the rooms, they’re small but cute and well prepared. They have comfortable beds and air conditioning, as well as their own bathroom. Everything is spotless and, in addition, there’s a small kitchen where you always have hot and cold water when you need it. Although you have all the privacy you want, there’s also a small common area to meet other travellers or sit and chat with the lovely family who runs it. For about 29€ a night for 2 people, we think it’s really great and, for us, it’s one of the best places to stay in Siargao on a budget.

Suyog Life Siargao
Travellers on Booking give this cheap hotel in Siargao a 9,1 out of 10. Among the many reasons is its location, right in the centre of General Luna, which makes it very convenient for exploring the island. On the other hand, Billy, who runs it, is lovely and will help you as much as possible to organise excursions and transport.
Rooms are cute and have a curious décor (as you can see in the photo below). They have air conditioning and a water heater for the shower. In addition, you can choose family rooms if you’re travelling in a group. From 32€ a night.

Mid‑range hotels in Siargao
Considering that accommodation in Siargao is among the priciest in the country, here’s a selection of mid‑price places that might interest you if you want something with charm without having to break the bank. We’re going to focus on hotels between 40€ and 60€
Siesta Siargao
Located in the heart of General Luna, this little hotel run by a charming Filipino couple is an ideal alternative if you don’t want to spend much but want a good location, so good that you won’t need to take the motorbike or tricycles every two minutes. Even so, it’s in a fairly quiet part of town so you won’t be overwhelmed by noise.
Their rooms, which are around 40€ per night, are comfortable, spacious and—highlighting it because it’s noteworthy—ultra‑mega‑clean. They have air conditioning, hot‑water showers and a TV with Netflix. Plus, they have a truly amazing shared kitchen, super well equipped so you can even make more elaborate dishes. They provide a free cold drinking‑water dispenser.
Dani and Max will make sure your stay in Siargao is memorable, no doubt. They help you find a motorbike, laundry, airport transport, and they even organise routes so you don’t miss the best bits!

Isola del Sole
This was our latest “residence” in Siargao and we think we couldn’t have chosen better. This complex of little cabins is located along the road parallel to the coastal highway, an area that is gradually filling up with hotels and restaurants, so if you want to walk to one of them, you won’t have any problem. In other words, it isn’t in the thick of the bars, but you do have businesses around.
What do we highlight about this place? First, the surroundings around it, with lush vegetation and those slender palm trees we like so much. Then, its little cabins seem very cosy to us, and during the week we stayed here we felt at home, since they have a sort of little living room with a TV, a kitchen (very complete, we were able to cook perfectly) and a good dining table where we could have breakfast/lunch/dinner, but also work perfectly with our laptops. It’s no surprise they have a 9,3 on Booking.
The cabins have two floors. Downstairs is everything mentioned above, but upstairs there’s a small extra bedroom with a double bed and the sofa can be made into a bed, so it’s accommodation in Siargao that’s perfect if you’re travelling as a family or group, yet cute and romantic enough if you’re travelling as a couple. They have air conditioning, fans, a hot‑water heater, mosquito‑screened windows and a personal water dispenser. In addition, the little terrace is super pleasant for spending time outdoors and letting your swimwear dry.
As if that weren’t enough, they’ve recently opened a pool and the staff are very nice, helping you as much as possible so you have a good stay. In the heart of the hotel there’s also a small pagada with hammocks to relax. All this for about 50€-55€ a night, so it’s more than normal for rooms to fly—don’t miss out and book as soon as possible!

The Ohm Resort Siargao
This newly opened boutique-style hotel will let you enjoy a few days in Siargao the way you want, but with all the comforts you can imagine. It’s located on the same street as Isola del Sole, a quiet area, yet one where you’ll find several cafés and restaurants in case you can’t be bothered to go looking at night. In fact, the hotel itself has a cute café with a coworking area where they serve hearty breakfasts and coffee from the Cordillera (Philippines).
From 43€ per night you’ll have a charming room with that tropical Siargao vibe we like so much, but also with everything you need: air conditioning, a fully equipped bathroom with a water heater, and blazing-fast internet. The common areas look like they’re straight out of a décor magazine, and, what’s more, the owner (Tarum) is lovely and will help you as much as possible. For us, a great choice if you’re looking for where to stay in Siargao with good value for money.

More mid-range places to stay in Siargao
If the above are already occupied or you simply don’t like them, here are more alternatives we’ve tried on the island that are still under €60 a night:
- Lexias Hostel and Workspace – Siargao: there’s nothing to complain about at this cute spot in the Catagnan area. You’ve got double and triple rooms, but also shared rooms if you want to save. It has a pool, coworking area, spaces for yoga… Around €51 a night. Book your room at this link.
- Latitude 10 Siargao: pleasant little cabins for about €46 a night in a great area of General Luna. You can take a look here.
- Big Waves Boutique Hotel Siargao: right in the town of General Luna, but in a very quiet residential area, so it’s perfect if you want everything close at hand. It’s a completely new place with a very cool tropical vibe. About €55 a night. Book from this link.
Higher-end hotels in Siargao
If you don’t mind spending a bit more but want to guarantee a cool place to stay, here are hotels between €70 and €100.
Ferra Resort Siargao
This is one of the most charming budget hotels in Siargao. OK, maybe it’s not as cheap as it was a few years ago, but sleeping in these sea-view cabins for under €67 on this island seems like a win to us. No wonder they have an 8,9 on Booking!
It’s in the Malinao area, which, as you know, is one of our favourites. As we were saying, these are little sea-view cabins decorated with plenty of style using local products. Spending hours on that terrace gazing at the horizon is pure joy and, when you get hot, you take three steps and you’re in the water. The staff are super nice and will help you organise tours, rent motorbikes or whatever you need.

Buddha’s Surf Resort
When our family told us they were coming to visit, we went crazy looking for decent accommodation in Siargao. We literally started calling all the island’s resorts one by one and the only place with a room for a few days was Buddha’s Surf Resort. Turns out we hit the jackpot. This small resort right by the main road, in the General Luna area, halfway to Cloud 9, really won us over. It has double rooms and also some family rooms. We stayed in one of the latter: it had 2 separate bedrooms, with 2 beds and a single—fantastic!
The value for money is very good and the breakfasts they serve are great. The common areas are very pretty and it’s really spotless. Plus, as the name suggests, they offer surf lessons and also yoga. We recommend it 100%.

Soultribe Beach Retreat
We’re back in Malinao, a little further west than Ferra Resort, to recommend this small hotel also located right on the beach that won us over quite a few years ago. Soultribe Beach Retreat is everything you imagine when you think of Siargao: wooden cabins, open-air Balinese-style bathrooms, hammocks, sea views, good vibes, friendly staff, surf and yoga teachers, help to arrange excursions or rent a motorbike and, of course, a nice restaurant so you don’t have to wander around.
In short, it’s a hotel to enjoy to the fullest and perfect whether you’re travelling as a couple or with family. In the latter case, you should know it has a small pool perfect for the little ones. And if you prefer the sea, it’s right in front. Without a doubt, a special hotel in Siargao. Prices start at €100 a night, although it also depends on the season.

- Katig Beachfront Boutique Hotel: newly opened hotel located on the main road, in the most central area and therefore perfect for reaching restaurants and bars without needing a motorbike, but, at the same time, being on the beach guarantees peace and quiet. It has some rooms with sea views. From about €80 a night. Check out this hotel in Siargao here.
- Daluyong Beach Resort: another option very similar to Soultribe, but located in General Luna along the main road and right on the beach. With a pool, modern and spacious rooms and a restaurant that serves top-notch cocktails. Take a look—you won’t regret it—from this link.
Best resorts in Siargao (and villas)
Siargao’s resort offering is huge. Some of them are true wonders and, without a doubt, it’s a great place to treat yourself and stay somewhere special. Here we’ve selected some of our favourites, but you can find them in greater detail and even more options in Best resorts in Siargao. If you’re eyeing the prices, these are places that already exceed €100 per night.
Sandy Feet Siargao
Located in our favourite beach area of Malinao, the décor of these villas is wonderful—every bit as much as the surroundings, centred on the beach that lies right in front of the resort. You’ll feel absolute peace staying at this resort in Siargao. If you’re travelling with family, you’ll also find villas with several bedrooms where it will feel like you’ve moved to paradise. Prices start at €145 with breakfast included, and note that the minimum booking is 2 nights. Book as soon as possible because they fly!

Bulan Villas Siargao
Located very close to Buddha’s Surf Resort, these are a recent addition to the Siargao villa scene—perfect if you want somewhere relatively central and close to the beach, but that also gives you the chance to have an on-site pool and restaurant that serves amazing wood-fired pizzas.
The rooms are gorgeous, in white tones and with that tropical feel we love, and you can choose between doubles and family rooms that comfortably fit four people. All have air conditioning, a fan and a modern bathroom, plus a pleasant terrace. Prices start at €140 a night and the minimum stay is 2 nights, so bear that in mind. With a 9,1 on Booking, you can’t go wrong.

Isla Cabana Resort
If we had to choose a resort in Siargao, it would probably be this one in the best area of General Luna. We stayed here for a few days during our first time on the island and would gladly have stayed longer. It’s in a prime beachfront location, in the most popular part of the main road and therefore with plenty of restaurant and bar options so you don’t need to use transport.
It has a wonderful infinity-style pool that leads directly onto the beach and sits right next to the restaurant, where they serve buffet breakfasts that will brighten your whole day. If you were missing it, there’s also a fully equipped gym.
Its cabins are tastefully decorated, spacious, and the common areas are beautiful. If you want to save a little, they also have standard rooms in a larger building. They’re just as nice, but obviously don’t have the charm of the cabins surrounded by greenery. Prices start at €200 a night with breakfast, but sea-view rooms exceed €300. The service, of course, is on par with a Siargao hotel of this style. We promise you’ll love it.

More cool resorts you might like
If the above don’t work for you for whatever reason, here are others that could suit you just fine:
- Villa Juan: we’ve already said it above, but we’re smitten with Santa Fe beach. It’s, without a doubt, the prettiest of all the surroundings of General Luna and it’s still very little visited even though it isn’t that far from the Cloud 9 area. When you see the photos of this villa with direct access, you’ll want to cry if it isn’t available. From €142 a night (with free cancellation) it’s a bargain for the place and the taste with which it’s been done. Take a look now from here.
- Siargao Island Villas: the place is spectacular, with an infinity-style pool and everything facing the sea. Everything works wonderfully and the staff are charming. From €118 a night. Book your room now from this link.
- Woody’s Place Siargao: this hotel on the main road is not only run by a truly lovely family, but it also has sea-view rooms from €125 a night and a great pool to relax in and take a dip when the tide is low. Seriously, there’s nothing we don’t like. Look here and you’ll see what we mean.
Luxury hotels in Siargao
If you want to treat yourself, this island is the place. You’ve got epic-level hotels like the ones we tell you about below.
Kalinaw Resort
Exquisite sea-view villas are what you’ll find at this hotel in Siargao. It’s located halfway between General Luna and Cloud 9 in a more isolated area, but perfect for forgetting everything and indulging in a place where you really feel exclusive.
The facilities are impeccable, as is the restaurant, which will deliver breakfast/lunch/dinner to your villa. As you can see in the photo, they have suites with private pools that are truly spectacular. The price of the most “basic” room (which, as you can imagine, isn’t basic at all) is around €400 with breakfast included, and note that you need to stay at least a couple of nights.

Nay Palad Hideaway
Without a doubt, this is the best resort in Siargao and one of the most impressive hotels in the Philippines. The décor is exquisite, especially in the beach area, which will leave you speechless. The service is impeccable, but bear in mind that it’s only for very special occasions because the price per night exceeds €2,200—at least it includes full board.

Other luxury hotels in Siargao
Below are other hotel options in Siargao with rooms above €200 a night, in case you’re looking to give yourself a (well-deserved) treat:
- SeaClub Siargao: stunning Siargao villas with 3 bedrooms and a private pool—ideal for groups of up to 6 people. Located around the Catagnan area, so not far at all. From €300 a night. Take a look here.
- Kamaya Private Villa with pool: a spectacular villa located in the Santa Fe area, with a pool surrounded by greenery that’s amazing. From €250 a night for 4 people—nice! Book from this link.
Staying in northern Siargao, another option
As we mentioned above, more and more travellers are choosing to stay in the north of the island. Surfers looking for less crowded waves and those of us who look for less developed parts and more peace and quiet are the main target audience of an area that’s developing little by little and which, for now, is very different from the General Luna area.
This, of course, has its advantages and disadvantages. That is, if you’re looking for a greater variety of accommodation, restaurants and bars to have a few drinks or a dance, you’ll find more variety in the south. If you prefer the quieter vibe and don’t mind having fewer options, the north is your place. In addition, with the arrival of Starlink internet (super fast), more and more digital nomads or people who can work remotely are settling here.
From our perspective, the best option is that on your first visit you opt for the south (General Luna/Malinao/Santa Fe) or that if you have more than 4 days on the island, you split your time between one place and another. However, this is, as always, our opinion. We recommend you take a look at the map below to locate the island’s different points of interest, plan your route and see which part suits you best.
In the north, basically, you can choose between Alegría, which is the northernmost little town and has the best beach in Siargao but has barely 2–3 restaurants; Burgos, another town with lots of local vibe, a rockier beach but more restaurant options; and Pacífico, which perhaps has more of a surfer feel and a long beach of golden sand that’s also a bit rocky. In the latter is where we’ve noticed more life lately. Which is best? Honestly, they all seem great to us, although, for the accommodation and its beach, we go for Alegría.
Here are the best hotels for where to stay in Siargao in its northern part:
- DaRosa del Mar: please do yourself a favour and book here. If you trust us and want your trip to Siargao to be marked by something special, this accommodation right on Alegría beach has outstanding value for money. It has bungalows with sea views that aren’t luxurious but have everything you need. Just take a look at the photo below, which was our view when we woke up every morning. They also have a good internet connection, a power generator (important with the island’s blackouts) and a restaurant, so you won’t have to complicate things by looking for where to eat in an area where there isn’t much. Plus, you’ll find it from €45 a night—an absolute bargain for what it is. Book now from this link and don’t miss out on your room.
- Bamboo Surf Beach: very pleasant bungalows in the San Isidro/Pacífico area, by the sea and from €60. You can choose between the ones facing the “garden” and the ones facing the beach. Fast internet connection thanks to Strlink. They also have a really handy restaurant. Have a snoop here.
- 3B Beach Resort Alegria: a basic but pleasant option on the spectacular Alegría beach. In case there are no rooms left at DaRosa, here you have them from €30. Take a look from this link.
