Every traveler is a world unto themselves, with different tastes and needs when it comes to traveling to the Philippines. Some look for a budget place where they can simply drop their luggage and head out to explore the different islands, while others also look for a place that offers certain comforts and services that make staying there even better than being at home. In this guide to the best resorts in the Philippines you’ll find a list we’ve created from our own experience, that of the readers of Viajar por Filipinas, and the main accommodation in the Philippines search pages.

Five‑star hotels in the Philippines with private beaches, infinity pools, jacuzzis on your balcony, dream villas on remote islands, or resorts in the Philippines with VIP dive outings are just some of the many things you’ll find. Want to treat yourself to a 5‑star indulgence? Traveling to the Philippines on your honeymoon and looking for something special? Looking for the best of the best on your trip? Perhaps overwater villas in the Philippines? In this list we suggest luxury resorts (marked with a ♢) as well as more moderately priced resorts so you don’t miss the chance to live the experience.

Resorts in El Nido

Here we’ve made a selection, but don’t forget to take a look at our article on Best resorts in El Nido.

♢ El Nido Resorts Lagen Island

This place is a gem! You might not realize it, but you’ve very likely seen photos of El Nido Resorts Lagen Island before, as it’s a classic in many travel agencies and promotional tourism photos. The reason? Its famous overwater suites. It’s one of the best resorts in the Philippines for many reasons, but the fact that it’s located on a private island away from the bustle of El Nido town is one of the most compelling. From there you can easily enjoy all the activities available to do in El Nido while staying on one of those islands where everyone wishes they could remain. It features a large pool just a few meters from the sea, a big buffet and à la carte restaurant, beachfront cottages and—again— 53‑square‑meter cottages over the water! Wonderful.

? There are other hotels of the same chain in El Nido that are very similar—take a look at our article on Overwater cabins in the Philippines and discover the best ones.

♢ Shangri-la Makati Manila

The Shangri‑La hotel chain appears several times among the best resorts in the Philippines, and Manila is no exception. They have three properties in the city, but the one in Makati offers the best location, just a few meters from the famous Ayala Mall. Its spacious and modern rooms provide all the services you might need and boast incredible city views. The gym and spa are a big plus at this resort in the Philippines, but you’ll surely be surprised by the huge variety of restaurants within the building itself: Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Italian… whatever your palate asks for!

The Funny Lion

Let’s be honest: Coron offers amazing island hoppings and unique experiences, but it isn’t a pretty town. So, why not stay 7 minutes away from it? The Funny Lion is a resort in Coron with a modern‑minimalist aesthetic that gives you the chance to rest in this paradise away from the bustle and hassle of the center. One of its pools has direct sea views, as does its restaurant, which serves everything from international dishes to fresh local seafood. If you want a 10/10 level of relaxation, don’t forget to spend some time in its jacuzzi and spa.

Paolyn Floating House

We had doubts about whether to include Paolyn Floating House on the list of the best resorts in the Philippines (it should definitely be on the list of the most unusual), because as you’ll see in the photos it’s nothing like any of the above. The greatest luxury you’ll have at this resort in Coron is its location, as it’s a floating resort situated on the shore of Coron Island (not to be confused with Coron Town, the city), specifically very close to Twin Lagoon, one of the highlights of the area’s island hopping. Don’t expect a spa, jacuzzi, or a massive buffet with dishes from every country here. This resort in the Philippines is for you if you want to feel like a castaway and wake up in pure paradise.

Resorts in Siquijor

Coco Grove Beach Resort

When we stayed at Coco Grove in Siquijor, by the first night we didn’t want to leave. From the first minute to the last, the staff’s attentiveness is a 10/10. This complex covers a large beachfront area with different restaurants, several pools, gardens, spa and massage centers and, of course, accommodations. These range from family villas with total privacy to modern rooms with tribal décor where you can rest after a day discovering SIquijor. One of the reasons that makes it one of the best resorts in the Philippines for us is its location right in front of the Tubod Marine Sanctuary, the best place in Siquijor to snorkel and be amazed by the marine diversity that lives there.
