Coron is one of our favorite places to see in the Philippines. Although it keeps getting more and more popular, there are still not as many travelers who, compared to El Nido, make it here to enjoy its wonderful island hopping. Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake, Bulog Dos, Malcapuya… The possibilities this part of the archipelago offers are tremendous and, if you’ve made it this far, you very likely want to enjoy them with the comfort that the best resorts in Coron have in store for you.

That’s why, in this guide we’re going to give you all the information and details you need to find that resort in Coron you’re looking for. Whether you’ve decided to spend your honeymoon in the Philippines or you simply want to treat yourself in this corner of the country, here you’ll find that luxury stay you’re after to put the finishing touch on your trip or that special place that will mark a before and after.

Recommended areas, prices, features of the best resorts in Coron and much more in this complete guide you can’t miss. Let’s get started!

Where to look for your resort in Coron

One of the main factors to consider when choosing your resort in Coron is its location, since aspects such as where it is, the services nearby and, of course, the views it offers can be absolutely key. Whether you’re looking for a resort in Coron on a remote island where, upon waking, you feel like a castaway, or one from which you don’t have to think at all about how to get to the main nearby sights, there are options for you.

In Where to stay in Coron we delve much deeper into this topic, but to give you an idea, these are the main areas among which you can choose your resort in Coron:

Coron Town, the hub

If you’ve already researched the different options of things to do in Coron, you’ll know that Coron Town is the main town from which most island hopping tours depart and that, despite having a varied range of restaurants and shops, it’s not exactly a pretty town.

Choosing Coron Town means opting to be close to the nerve center but giving up having accommodation with a beach like the ones you’ll see on the island hopping in Coron, since here there are only a port and mangroves. From Coron Town you can take a tricycle for a few pesos and easily reach nearby places.

We’ll give you plenty of tips, but if you want to cut to the chase, we recommend THIS RESORT.

Busuanga and surroundings

Coron is just the tip of the iceberg of what this beautiful area of the Philippines has in store for you. Busuanga is the large island where it’s located and, after having explored it for quite some time, we can assure you it’s really worth getting to know it and not limiting yourself only to the Coron Town area. Near areas such as Concepción you’ll find some of the best resorts in Coron, which are also ideal for those who want to enjoy diving the World War II wrecks hidden beneath the waters of Coron Bay.

Here we highly recommend THIS RESORT, with wonderful views.

There’s also Salvación, Ocam Ocam and, increasingly, the north of Busuanga, where charming little resorts keep popping up—perfect for stepping off the usual route. Check out THIS LITTLE HOUSE in Ocam Ocam.

In addition, there are also islands near Busuanga where luxury resorts await you in which to live a unique experience, both for the quality of the accommodation and for the epic nature of the paradise where they are located. If you don’t believe us, take a look at THIS RESORT.

Where and when to book

Both for traveling around the Philippines and, in our opinion, in almost anywhere in the world, we usually use Booking the most, both for prices and for the great variety of accommodations and the ease of resolving any issue if something happens. Likewise, in the Philippines the Agoda website also works very well and we always recommend comparing both once you’ve chosen the resort, as prices can sometimes vary quite a bit.

As you’ll see in the following list, the number of resorts in Coron that are really worth it isn’t very high and therefore we recommend booking as far in advance as possible. Pay special attention to three dates: Chinese New Year, Holy Week and Christmas. If you plan to stay in the Philippines at those times, it’s a period of heavy local tourism movement and it’s advisable to book even further in advance: at least 2 months.

These are, broadly speaking, the main areas in which to find your resort in Coron. Depending on what you’re looking for, you should opt for one or another. But don’t worry—we’re going to make it very easy, and thanks to the selection we’ve prepared you’ll quickly find yours without having to worry about it.

Recommended resorts in Coron

Now yes—after this introduction that has already placed you in this beautiful part of the country, we’re going to recommend the best resorts in Coron. That said, “Spoiler: you’re going to like so many of them that it’ll be hard to pick just one.”

“Central” area, Coron Town and surroundings

Two Seasons Coron Bayside Hotel, going all out in Coron Town

We’ll start with what is the best resort in Coron Town. As we’ve already told you, this is the main area from which the different island hoppings depart and where you’ll find the greatest variety of restaurants and services. Two Seasons Coron Bayside Hotel has rooms with jaw-dropping views of Coron Island—can you imagine being in your bathtub and enjoying a panoramic view? You’ll have it here! Its modern, spacious rooms are equipped with everything you might need: fridge, air conditioning, hairdryer, amenities

And its facilities will make it very hard to want to leave. An infinity pool with views of the bay, solarium, spa, massages, a jacuzzi facing Coron Island and, if in addition to luxury you want a fit touch, a gym.

Breakfast is included and wins over everyone who stays at this Coron resort, as does the friendliness of its staff. It’s located less than 300 meters from the port where the island hopping tours depart, so if you’re looking for a top-tier resort that’s also close to everything, this should be your choice.

Who do we recommend this accommodation for? For those looking for a special, luxury stay without paying exorbitant prices, as close to the center as possible.

Bacau Bay Resort Coron, relaxing near Coron Town

Another very interesting option to consider if you’re looking for a resort in Coron in the area closest to the action but far enough away to avoid the chaos and bustle is Bacau Bay Resort Coron, about 5 minutes from the center by tricycle. This hotel is more affordable than the previous one and guarantees a relaxed stay with all the top-tier services you might need.

It has two room types and—heads up!—the smaller one covers 32 square meters. The larger one, called Premiere Suite, awaits you with almost 50 square meters and a large living room where you won’t be missing your own coffee maker and a fridge to keep something chilled.

In the common areas you’ll have a gym to keep in shape, a mid-size pool surrounded by sun loungers where you can sunbathe and relax, and an exit toward the mangroves where, if you feel like it, you can grab a kayak and go exploring. They organize excursions to the nearby islands for those who don’t want to set it up on their own, though obviously at a slightly higher price.

Its restaurant, Amihan, also boasts a long list of good reviews in its international menu, as well as the varied assortment offered at its buffet.

So who is this Coron resort for? For those looking for a place near the center with every convenience, but without being 100% in the thick of it or at the Two Seasons level of luxury.

More resorts in Coron Town and surroundings you might like

If the above don’t quite convince you, here’s another selection of Coron resorts we’ve loved on our visits:

  • The Funny Lion Coron: one of our all-time favorites, and they’re now opening more hotels elsewhere in the Philippines. It’s close to the center, modern, has a gorgeous pool and top-notch service. Prices from €140 for a double with breakfast. Book now here.
  • La Natura Resort: if you’re looking for something a bit more budget-friendly but still want a resort in Coron, this one is close to the center and has a pool surrounded by nature (we suppose that’s where the name comes from) that we fell in love with. Prices from €85 a night, though there are sometimes discounts. Take a look at this link.
  • Tag Resort: also on the outskirts of Coron Town, this one takes the prize for best pool. Rooms are around €100 with breakfast and it’s one of the most modern. Book here.

Resorts in Busuanga, near Concepción

Concepción is an area of Coron we really like because it’s about 45–60 minutes from Coron Town, it has a nice pier from which you can see top sunsets and it gives you access to several interesting island hopping routes, the most famous being the one to Pass Island. You also have several wrecks nearby here, so it’s a good base if you want to dive, and you can easily reach Salvación and Ocam Ocam by motorbike.

There are several very cool Coron resorts in this area, mostly located around a quirky bay we love. If you want to know more about this part of Busuanga, check our guide Things to do in Concepción, but now we’ll tell you about some of the best Coron resorts located around here.

Busuanga Bay Lodge, high-level exclusivity

We had the chance to get to know one of the best resorts in Coron when we went to dive the wrecks in the area and… wow! Any adjective to describe this place falls short, but we’ll try to help you get the idea.

First let’s talk location. It’s away from Coron Town, so it’s for those looking to discover the lesser-known Coron. From here, island hopping departures go to the nearby islands of North Cay, Maltatayoc, Pass Island or Lusong Coral Garden to enjoy mind-blowing snorkeling; you can also do the classic Coron Island hopping, although it will take a bit longer since it’s further away. The resort sits in a small bay with a tiny private beach where you can relax and toast in the sun. Right by the beach you’ll find its dive center, which we can totally recommend; it has quality equipment and fast boats that will speed up your dives. Plus, being so close to the wrecks, you’ll get there before the divers coming from Coron Town and will probably have them to yourself.

There’s little to say about the rooms that you can’t already see in the photos: they’re spectacular. For us, personally, the so‑called “Seaside Double Room” are our favorites; but obviously, if you want to go all‑out luxury, the Clubhouse Suite awaits you with its 60 square meters and beautiful modern, minimalist décor.

The common area with bay views from its pool and armchairs is a super chill place to relax, and the restaurant offers a wide variety of generous, really good dishes.

Who do we recommend what is one of the best resorts in Coron to? Couples who are looking for a very special place to spend a few days and plan to do all their activities from there, since it would be a waste of time to go back and forth to Coron Town daily. That said, you should assume that, being in a secluded and exclusive spot, food and activity prices will be a bit higher.

Busuanga Bay Lodge on Agoda

luxury resort in Coron

Marina del Sol Resort & Yacht Club, epic views

Run by Pablo and Nerea, a Spanish couple, and in the same bay where Busuanga Bay Lodge is located but at a much lower price, it’s one of the Coron resorts with the best sunset views. Its white rooms, which may remind you a little of the Ibizan style, may not be as modern as those of its neighboring resort, but the extra of its rooms with balcony gives it lots of points. If you don’t end up staying here, we still recommend that one afternoon you drop by its The Bay Restaurant to enjoy the sunset while tasting something tasty from their menu.

From the resort itself they organize island hopping outings and, if you prefer to enjoy the bay’s tranquility, you can spend the day relaxing in the pool or snorkeling around.

Who do we see this type of resort for? Both couples and groups of friends and families who feel like getting to know the other side of Coron, with a touch of exclusivity but with a budget that doesn’t skyrocket. We’re already itching to go back to Coron and enjoy the breeze from the top of this resort.

Al Faro Cosmio Palawan

The tough contender to the above, not only because of its location but also because of the owners’ personalized attention, who will help you make the most of this part of Coron. From here they organize tours to the nearby islands at quite competitive prices, they prepare your meals so you don’t have to worry about anything, all the transfers, etc. It’s true you might feel a bit isolated, since it’s on a hill, but that’s probably what you’re after.

The pool is fabulous, so you could spend days there. In addition, they have spacious rooms with sea views from just €65 a night. Do consider that they’re a bit rustic in the sense that they don’t have air conditioning (we don’t think it’s necessary), they’re open and a gecko might liven up your evening, but you have a mosquito net and it’s part of the adventure. No wonder travelers give it a 9.4 on Booking, a sign of its comfort.

The hotel has a restaurant with generous portions, and they also offer extras such as massages, which we can confirm are amazing.

Resorts in Coron in special places

Outside Coron Town and Concepción, you have some spectacular resorts in Coron. If you’re the kind who wants to treat yourself or simply looking for something different, the ones we propose will delight you.

Discovery Coron, island exclusivity

If we had to give it a title, it would probably be something like “A dream place.” This “paradise”, as its very name suggests, is located on Dimakya Island, north of the island of Busuanga where the most touristy area is located. In the case of this Coron resort, we’ll start with the question we’ve been closing the rest of the accommodations with: who do we recommend it to? Discovery Coron (formerly called Club Paradise) is a place for those who want to give themselves a real treat and will spend at least 2 or 3 days on this “lost island”, enjoying the tranquility that’s breathed here and the snorkeling or excursions such as those that take you to Dumunpalit Island, another epic paradise. Given how far it is from everything, there’s no point going for just a single night. Honeymoon, proposal or simply giving yourself a treat are three situations in which Discovery Coron fits you.

It has rooms of different sizes and prices, all with refreshed décor and all the services you expect to find in a place like this. You can also swim in its pool, but with this crystal‑clear‑water beach that you’ll practically have to yourself, it probably won’t even be necessary.

The restaurant has a wide variety of dishes and even vegan options such as a tofu burger with plant‑based cheese, the traditional Filipino boodle fight and the possibility of enjoying a romantic dinner by the sea. Fancy surprising your partner?

Sangat Island Resort, near and far

Another of the best resorts in Coron in terms of location is Sangat Island Resort. Heads up: this isn’t a place where you’ll find great luxury in terms of design—here the luxury is the idyllic setting where it’s located, the beautiful island of Sangat. It lies halfway between Coron Town and Concepción, much closer than the two previous options, and ensures an “adventurous” experience that might be exactly what you’re looking for.

Little cabins facing a fine‑sand beach, good snorkeling, friendly and attentive staff, tasty food and even services at your disposal such as a gym or gear rental to enjoy the beach. From there they organize island hopping outings and dives to most of the wrecks which, thanks to its location, are no more than 10 minutes away. Fancy feeling like a Robinson Crusoe without having to go as far as the island of Club Paradise Palawan? Give it a chance!

Who do we see staying at this Coron resort? First of all, travelers who are looking for a very special place over luxury or modern rooms. If you plan to dive the area’s wrecks, this place is totally for you. If you don’t dive but are looking for a disconnecting, adventurous experience that lets you enjoy a beach practically to yourself and make outings from there, you can go ahead and book as well:

The price may seem a bit steep, but it’s true that it includes all meals.

The Beach House Ocam Ocam

Busuanga Island itself doesn’t have particularly spectacular beaches (the prettiest ones are on the island hopping in Coron), but if we had to choose a beach to stay for several days, it would be Ocam Ocam. Located on the west of the island, from here you have access to beautiful Ocam Ocam, and the beach has golden sand and is still very unspoiled. In fact, there are only a few hut‑style hotels and guesthouses with restaurants, so you shouldn’t expect a wide variety of businesses.

That said, you won’t be missing anything at this small Coron resort. It’s a beautiful bamboo house with a boho style that we fell in love with. It has spacious rooms, some of them with sea views or direct access to the pool, which is right beside the beach. These have air conditioning and, of course, a private bathroom.
