IATI Seguros is the Spanish insurance company with the most experience and greatest trust. And we don’t say that lightly, but because we’ve spent more than 10 years traveling with them and they’ve ended up saving us on more than one occasion, as we tell you in “IATI Seguros reviews” (they saved us more than 20,000 euros after weeks of hospital admission in the Philippines).
They were the first to offer the famous 5% travel insurance discount, but over the years things have evolved and now there are many more discounts available depending on the time of year, the number of travelers, the length of the trip, etc… In this guide you can see how to get each one and check whether there is also any active promotion right now to help you save more. It’s possible to get up to a 30% discount.
5% discount on IATI travel insurance
The IATI 5% travel insurance discount is the best known, the classic one. It’s always available, with no exceptions. For any destination, date or trip length. You can get it from any of the links on our website or by clicking the following button:
10% discount at IATI – IATI Travel Days
In addition to the 5% discount that is always available here, IATI runs different campaigns during the year that increase this discount and make your travel insurance even cheaper. One of the campaigns they usually launch is IATI Travel Days. During the week it lasts, they offer an extra 5% discount which, added to our usual 5%, means you can get a 10% discount.
The IATI Travel Days 2025 were active from July 14 to 25 with the discount ranging from 5% to 10% — don’t miss the next one!

15% discount during IATI’s Black Friday
One of the most anticipated times of the year for those looking for a big discount on their travel insurance is Black Friday. Not only because the promotion increases, but also because we, at Travel Around the Philippines, raffled a drone in 2024 among everyone who bought their insurance through our website. So, if you want to be one of the lucky ones in 2025, we suggest you check “Black Friday Travel Insurance” as the dates approach. This year everything points to it being from November 21 to 30.
During those days, IATI offers a 10% discount on its website which, added to the 5% we always offer, gives you a 15% discount. This is the best discount of the whole year accessible to everyone, since the rest we’re going to show you apply in cases such as large group trips.
Group discounts: from 15% to 20%
In addition to the promotions IATI launches throughout the year (Easter, IATI Travel Days, Orange Friday…), it’s possible to get other extra discounts if you travel in groups of more than 5 or 9 people. These discounts are 5% and 15% and, when added to the 5% for coming from our website, give you up to 20%. You can also get the “Family Discount” if there are a minimum of 3 people, one of them a minor, who live in the same household and one is a parent and the other a domestic partner or also a parent of the minor.
Bear in mind that this reduction is only available for the long‑duration policies IATI Grandes Viajeros and IATI Anual Multiviaje, something many websites don’t mention. In “Annual travel insurance” we talk in detail about these two policies but, in summary:
- IATI Grandes Viajeros: For trips between 6 months and one year.
- IATI Anual Multiviajes: Covers, for one year, all the trips you take of up to 90 days in duration.
So, thanks to our discount and the group discount on these annual policies, the savings are as shown in this table:

30% discount on travel insurance: the MAXIMUM
The maximum savings on travel insurance discounts are achieved by adding the previous discount we’ve just mentioned, for families or groups of more than 9 people, plus temporary promotions such as Black Friday. In this way you can accumulate discounts like:
5% for coming through us + 10% for the Black Friday promotion + 15% for traveling as a family or large group with long‑duration insurance = 30% discount.
ONLY THROUGH US: Again, to get such a large amount of savings it’s not possible to do it with just one click like the other promotions. You’ll need to write an email or a comment so that, only through us, you can reach 30% after we speak with IATI.
Do I really need travel insurance?
Absolutely. And we say it from personal experience. The main advantage of travel insurance is that in case of accident or illness it ensures you’re treated by top‑tier specialists, without you having to pay anything out of pocket.
If you’re not aware of the extremely high cost of healthcare in other countries, this might not sound like much. But, as we mentioned earlier, on one of the many occasions we’ve had to use it, it saved us more than 20,000 euros. This would have been a total ruin for us if we hadn’t had our IATI policy. Three weeks admitted to a hospital in Manila, two lung surgeries, my mother’s trip from Spain and her hotel. All paid by the insurance.
But it isn’t an isolated case and the Philippines isn’t exactly the most expensive place in the world in that respect. An ambulance in the United States doesn’t cost less than 500 euros, an emergency visit to the traumatologist in Japan cost us 600 euros, another visit to the emergency room in Malaysia was more than 300 euros… All paid by the travel insurance, which also cost us much less thanks to the IATI travel insurance discount.
But what travel insurance covers goes MUCH further than medical issues. To give you an idea, your IATI discount insurance also covers things like:
Theft: All of their policies have theft‑focused coverage that insures you for thousands of euros if you suffer one with violence.
Issues with your luggage: If your airline loses your luggage or, among several cases, if it delivers it with a long delay. You’ll be paid money so you can cover basic necessities. Clothing, toiletries, etc.
Trip Cancellation expenses: Not only can you benefit from a 5% discount on IATI travel insurance, but you can even get all the money back if you end up not being able to travel. You can add the famous Trip Cancellation add‑on to the insurance. With it, you’ll be reimbursed up to 6,000 euros if you have to cancel your trip for any of the many causes they consider. Illness, work, personal problems… They cover a lot of scenarios and refund the money you’ve invested in flights, accommodation or activities you planned to do during the trip.
A family member’s travel: We’ve experienced this ourselves. If you’re hospitalized for more than 5 days, they’ll bring a family member from the other side of the world and pay for their accommodation.
Extension of your trip: Imagine that just before finishing your trip you have an accident or illness and, by medical prescription, you must rest and can’t leave the country. IATI can cover your stay for up to 14 days.
Repatriation: We’ve experienced this too. After 3 weeks in the hospital in Manila they put us on a flight (note: business class!) back home at no cost.
Delays: They also have coverages that guarantee different types of reimbursements in transport matters. For cancellation, delay, annulment…
