Boracay is one of the most famous islands, not only in the Philippines, but in the world. Its long stretch of fine white-sand beach attracts thousands of travelers each year in search of relaxation in a unique place. In our more than 14 years traveling around the country, we’ve been able to try different accommodations on the island and we want to tell you about one of our latest finds: Agos Boracay, a highly recommended place to stay in Boracay Island.

Location of Agos Boracay: Station 2, 200 meters from the beach

Without a doubt, if you’re going to Boracay it’s because you’re after the beach—its main draw. With the tourist boom on the island, a bunch of resorts in Boracay popped up right on the seafront that are out of many people’s budgets, and prices also shot up for other accommodations that aren’t necessarily top quality, simply because they’re next to the sea.

Unlike other islands where you have to go far from the tourist area, here we managed to find a hotel that, besides being super close to Station 2 (the liveliest part of White Beach), offers great value for money and services.

Agos Boracay is located on the island’s main road. It’s a 4‑minute walk to the beach, with a couple of laundries nearby, a mall next door, and a huge area packed with places to eat just steps away.

Was the choice worth it? Totally!

Agos Boracay

Agos Boracay, an excellent choice for staying in Boracay Island

Agos Boracay has different room types you can choose from depending on your trip. Although we stayed in a large room with two double beds, there are also rooms with a single bed and family rooms that can accommodate up to 6 people, all with access to its lush garden.

All rooms come with air conditioning and also include a large ceiling fan which, together with the mosquito nets, makes it easy to air out and cool the room quickly. In addition, all rooms also have a small fridge to keep drinks and fruit cool, a kettle to heat water and a sink, which really helps with preparing your own breakfast (which you can enjoy at the outdoor tables overlooking the garden) without having to leave the hotel.

Something we also tend to look for—and found at Agos Boracay—is the peace of mind of having a small safe where we can store our valuables. Above it there’s a large TV with countless channels. It’s not something we really need (in fact we didn’t even use it), but we know many travelers even carry a pendrive with movies to watch directly on TVs like this. If that’s you, you can do it here.

The bathroom is the typical one you’ll find in the Philippines. A shower with a water heater, a washbasin, a hand basin, and a large mirror to get yourself ready before heading out to explore Boracay. All good!

Recommended accommodation in Boracay

Wi‑Fi is another important highlight at Agos Boracay, since the connection is stable and fast. We were able to watch series and movies perfectly and took the chance to upload hundreds of files without any issues. This might sound trivial, but it’s quite unusual in the Philippines, so we really appreciated it for getting work done.

Another thing we want to highlight—and find very important—is the enormous and sincere friendliness of all the staff at Agos Boracay. From the very first moment they welcomed us with a big smile and helped us with all our questions about the island. We truly felt at home thanks to them.

Looking for peace and quiet? You’ll be glad to know that, despite being on the island’s main road in the very center, you can’t hear anything from outside and you can rest without street noise.

Other rooms at Agos Boracay

As we already mentioned, we spent a few days in the room with two double beds, but there are also rooms with a single bed and family rooms.

If you’re traveling as a group or family, the latter are a great choice for a few days in Boracay since they’re super comfortable and also have everything mentioned above. If you book in advance, try to get the one with a window facing the sea; it’s the brightest and our favorite.

The layout is very similar, with a full bathroom, the “breakfast area” with fridge and sink, and some storage space. On the main floor there are two single beds that hide two more beds underneath. Going up some stairs you access the upper floor where you’ll find a double bed, offering a total space for 6 adults.

Common areas at Agos Boracay

The first thing you’ll come across when you arrive at Agos Boracay is its green, leafy garden, where more than once we saw guests relaxing in the breeze. Next, next to reception, you’ll find a chill area where you can sit and read for a while or even have breakfast.

In front of each room there are a couple of chairs and a table, in case you want a bit more privacy. You also have somewhere to hang your towel and wet swimsuit after a day at the beach.

Although they don’t have the typical free drinking‑water dispenser, for 100 pesos you can buy a huge jug of water from them that will last you several days.

Restaurants near Agos Boracay

In our guide to Where to eat in Boracay (coming soon) you can find in much more detail the best places to have lunch or dinner on the island, but we also want to give you a few suggestions here in case, while at Agos Boracay, you want to go out to eat:

  • Station 2 area: As we said, one of the main virtues of this accommodation is its excellent location. In a straight line, 300 meters away, you’ll be in Station 2 where, besides a great beach, you have countless dining options.
  • D´Mall Borcay: Leaving Agos, also to the right but walking 500 meters, you’ll reach D’Mall. In this shopping area you’ll find practically any kind of food you want. Pasta, pizza, burgers, pad thai… etc. We dropped by Hijo de Pita several times to eat some tasty falafel pitas and share a few laughs with the friendly waitress.
  • Station X: This time, instead of turning right, turn left from the hotel until you reach, also 500 meters away, Station X. This food court also awaits you with a great variety of options for lunch/dinner. We recommend heading over to try the delights at Nonie’s—totally worth it!

Final opinion of Agos Boracay

Would we stay at Agos again? Absolutely! If you’re looking for a high‑end seaside resort, this is obviously not your place and you’d be better off checking the options we show in “Best resorts in Boracay.” But if you’re after accommodation with a great location and price—and comfortable—book your room at Agos Boracay now; they go fast.

Pros

  • The location is the first thing we fell in love with. Literally close to everything: beaches, restaurants, and services. With the shared tricycles that leave from the arrival port, they drop you at the very door for 30 pesos per person.
  • Room with excellent value for money for solo travelers as well as couples, families, or groups.
  • The staff are super friendly and make everything super easy for you at all times.
  • We’re not big on air conditioning, so the fan + mosquito net combo always gets extra points from us. It’s great to have both options.
  • Fast Wi‑Fi, TV, fridge, hot water, safe… Nothing’s missing.

Cons

  • Before the pandemic there was an adjoining restaurant and thanks to it breakfast was an option. It’s not a big problem that it’s no longer there, but if it reopens in the future that would be great.
  • Maybe the décor is also a bit “updateable,” but it’s not something that makes us take many points off either.

Final score 8/10 Filipino suns
