Choosing where to stay in Sagada can be a bit tricky, first because it’s a fairly spread-out area and there isn’t much public transport, so it’s a good idea to check the location so you don’t spend too much time walking or overspend on tricycles. And second, because with the fame it has gained among travelers from Manila, prices have skyrocketed despite how basic most rooms are.

Since we want you to enjoy all the things to do in Sagada, we’re going to make things a little easier and share some accommodation suggestions. Keep reading and discover the best hostels and hotels in Sagada.

Areas to stay in Sagada and map

Before we dive into the different places to stay in Sagada, it’s important to get a sense of the area and which part interests you most.

Sagada itself is spread out along valleys and hills, and you can’t really say there’s a bustling center like in most Filipino towns and cities. If you look at the map, there’s a “Y” where most places are concentrated, with the Tourism Office as the main landmark. This is where—and especially a little farther south—most restaurants and accommodations are clustered.

Since the Tourism Office is handy for planning activities, restaurants close early, and Sagada is pretty hilly, we think this is the best area to choose a hotel. Therefore, we’re going to focus on more central accommodation in Sagada.

On the other hand, something you should keep in mind when booking your hotel in Sagada is that the value for money is mediocre at best. Since the destination appeared in several Filipino movies and series, it experienced a sudden surge in popularity and the accommodation options haven’t kept up at the same pace, making the offer generally and inexplicably worse compared to other parts of the country.

Therefore, our recommendation is to book as early as possible, especially for weekends and Philippine holidays. Seriously, it’s crucial so you don’t end up with an overpriced room. For that, we suggest comparing prices on Booking and Agoda. Although we’ve checked these places in person, it’s important to read reviews from other travelers, especially regarding room insulation, as it gets quite cool in Sagada and the last thing you want is to be uncomfortable at night.

So, here are the places to stay in Sagada we would choose, which we’ve also marked on the map you’ll find below:

Best hotels in Sagada

Without further ado, here are what we think are the best hostels and hotels in Sagada—and why:

1. Agape Log Cabin

Located in Sagada’s most central area, this hotel offers some of the best value for money and a very cozy mountain‑cabin atmosphere. It’s spotless, the owners are lovely, and the internet connection works great—what more could you want? With doubles starting at just $26, it’s incredibly tempting to take a look.

On top of that, it’s perfect for all kinds of travelers, with 10‑bed shared dorms, double rooms (shared bathroom), and family rooms (private bathroom). Of course, there’s hot water in the shower—trust us, you’ll need it.

2. BAEY B0GAN Homestay

If you’re looking for budget accommodation in Sagada, you can stop now because this homestay will win you over. Also located in the most convenient part for accessing restaurants and the tourism office, this little guesthouse is run by the charming Nanay Ellen, who will do everything possible to make sure you have a great time.

Rooms are small and the bathroom is shared (with a water heater), but they’re super clean and have that wood décor we love. It also has a very pleasant common lounge and a small kitchen, in case you want to prepare a simple breakfast or dinner.

The only downside to this hostel in Sagada? There’s no Wi‑Fi, but mobile data reception is perfect if you have a Philippine SIM card. We don’t think it’s a big deal, considering a single room costs $10 and a 4‑person room $40—what a steal!

3. AJaa’s Place

With spacious rooms—singles from $12 a night and doubles from $24, all with private bathrooms (hot showers, of course)—AJaa’s Place is another of the best places to stay in Sagada. It’s also located in the most central part and in a very quiet area, so you’re sure to enjoy restful nights.

Although there’s no Wi‑Fi, it has a very nice common area if you want to meet more travelers. It won’t surprise you either if we tell you the owners are delightful.

4. Sagada Lodging Home

Want a slightly nicer hotel in Sagada? Then we recommend taking a look at Sagada Lodging Home. The rooms are beautifully decorated with lovely wooden touches and some have balconies with views, as well as a charming private bathroom with a water heater. They also have a restaurant where breakfast is served—pretty decent for the price—and, of course, they also serve dinner, in case you don’t feel like going out for a walk in the cool evening air.

We also want to mention the staff—super friendly and experienced. In short, if you’re willing to pay a bit more (doubles from $66 a night) and don’t want to be far from the center (there are several restaurants nearby), we think it’s the best place to stay in Sagada.

5. The Shire of Sagada

We finish our list with what is the best hotel to stay in Sagada. Located to the north, so you’ll need transport, it’s surrounded by mountains in a rather idyllic area, so we think it’s worth sacrificing the location to stay somewhere this special.

“The Shire of Sagada” is a place for those who want comforts, mountain views, and who also like The Lord of the Rings. Fans of Tolkien’s books will enjoy those little details like the circular shape of the windows and doors or the room names, which are inspired by characters from the books.

All the rooms—spacious, with comfortable beds and spotless bathrooms—have large windows to enjoy the panorama. Breakfast is included in the room rate (which is around $85 for a double) and is really generous. The restaurant food is a bit pricey, though, so if you want to save, you’ll need to head to one of the restaurants in town.
