Travel around the Philippines by ferry, useful info

  • If you are a bit sensitive to the cold, you should bear in mind that in the classes where you travel inside the ferry it is usually very cold. It is not a bad idea to be prepared with something warm just in case. We usually choose to go on deck to avoid that.
  • Many of the boats have a small “bar” inside. We put “bar” in quotes because what you will most often find there are soft drinks, instant coffee, and packaged noodles to have with hot water.
  • If you tend to get seasick, check the sea conditions before boarding. Fast ferries sometimes “bounce” over the water, and a biodramina can help you prevent possible nausea.
  • Christmas, Holy Week and other peak‑season dates are synonymous with full boats. Book in advance so you don’t get left on the dock!
